small towns, usa
the satakes return from their weekend marin adventure. it is definitely different traveling with littlebaby. he was great and fun, but it's a different kind of vacation altogether and probably not as slow/laidback as is without a smallfry. we still heart him though. :)
there are many small towns in marin that i have never heard of before. some you may have heard of before:
mill valley!
pt. reyes station!
san rafael! (okay, that is not a small town)
but others, it's like, what the ... and then the town passed us.
larkspur!
olema!
san geronimo valley!
lagunitas!
fairfax!
i swear every vendor there has the "SUPPORTER OF MARIN ORGANICS" up there. it is pretty cool though. with all the access to local, sustainable AND organic foods, it's a pretty tight knit food circle.
food highs:
1. picco pizzeria -- amazing. sn: not for the lactose intoleranced, as i sadly discovered.
2. fairfax scoop -- local ingredients and interesting flavors (ie vanilla honey lavendar).
3. bovine bakery -- the hugest scones for $2.60 you've ever encountered. tasy too.
food lows:
1. marin sun farms -- once touted in my head as the height of cool, is now the big suck. too expensive and we did not go all the way to pt. reyes station to buy a frozen half chicken i could've gotten at country sun in palo alto. thank you.
all in all, we thank mill valley inn for a nice room and a rainy slow weekend. now, back to our show.
