stick to what you know: be green and don't shoot your mouth off

after shooting my mouth off about political things i know nothing about ... well, let's just say i think it's best if i just stick to things i know, namely my growing green'n crunchy side. no longer will i just think about csa's and food! i think about beef! chicken! local milk in glass bottles! bad-plastic-free baby bottles! organic cottons! no sponges -- yes dishcloths!

and now i am thinking about how to make our home more crunchy by considering the following things:

1. nontoxic cleaners: will using castile soap change my life? do i get on the vinegar/baking soda/hydrogen peroxide/lemon train? is it worth the effort? do i need to buy nine spray bottles?

2. buying air cleaning plants: english ivy! aloe vera! dieffenbachia! rubber plants! peace lilies! according to my green books, 15 plants can clean up to 1800 sq ft of space.

3. paper products: do we do away with paper napkins? do we replace our paper towels with recycled paper towels? is anyone interested in sharing cases of recycled paper towels or other products in bulk?

4. after baby outgrows his N's and 1's, do we do cloth? gdiapers? tushies? what's worse? petroluem resources to move the cloth diapers? biodegradable diapers? with or without gel?

5. baby-bonding: because there are so many babies in my life, is there a way for us to bond together to make life-with-baby more cost/time efficient? like, instead of everyone making all their own baby food, what if one person were just to make a ton of mashed sweet potatoes/bananas/whatever and share accordingly? and it doesn't have to be limited to baby food. what about grown people food? to make enough food for multiple families and then to do dinnerswaps? does that build community? does that save time/energy/money?

is anyone interested in musing with me? you see, I STOPPED WORKING and now i have all this time on my hands to think about these things. things that should not be political.

thoughts?
