sad, sad me
dr says i am gaining weight too fast. i am not on track with the total weight gain of 25-35 lbs. she says at the rate i am going ... i am looking at at least 40 lbs! 40 lbs! what have i DONE? i gained just as much weight this month as i did last month (7 lbs) even though there were NO DANISHES.
WHAT'S GOING ON?
:( :( :( honey and i have identified at least one culprit: BREAD. since my victory over gestational diabetes, i've been having two slices of toast in the morning. tj's makes a loverly english muffin bread ... until i found out yesterday that it is a calorie devil. i didn't know it was 170 calories a slice! holy mother. and of course, there is my unwillingness to exercise.
friends and family: be prepared to hear my lament frequently in the next couple of weeks. i really don't mind the weight gaining in general -- i'm pregnant, you get big. but to gain this much weight! to know that only maybe 2 lbs of it is baby! to weigh as much as honey! to weigh more than half my ltg, most of which is male??
if there is any reassuring mommy feedback out there, i am sorely in need of some. because today? i. feel. fat.

I don't know if this will help, but... I remember going to the doctor's office, and getting on that scale. I was supposed to only have gained a pound or two, and I'd gained 4. Then the doctor would basically ask if I'd been a slave to gluttony, which I hadn't been, but boy did I feel guilty! For me though, it was water weight. I'd drink water just before my appointment and immediately swell up like a water balloon. Have you been retaining water? If you have been, the best way to remedy that is to make sure you're well hydrated, so drink more. It'll also help fill your stomach. - H
Like I've said before, Res and I gained weight the same way you are. Nearly a pound a week until close to the end of the second trimester and then nary a pound after that. So like a total weight gain of 25 or so pounds, which is totally acceptable. The nurse would always extrapolate and look askance at us during the second trimester, but by the third trimester, we had nothing to worry about. A lot of women don't gain that much weight by now because they spent the entire first trimester throwing up/avoiding food, which you didn't. So consider yourself lucky and take a walk after dinner if you feel guilty.
