baby's musical tastes

so first off, we think baby is a fraidycat. he doesn't much like loud, sudden noises. i dropped something in the sink and he totally started. then turdie threw a pan in the oven, and he jumped a mile. yes, baby is a fraidycat.

on the other hand, he also seems to have musical preferences. i've tried to acquaint him with some basic yo-yo ma. no response. i tried playing him some of the new britney. i've heard that low register sounds/bass/percussion-y type music are things that babies can hear better. he wasn't into it. what is baby into, apparently? carrie underwood, or as my sister calls her, carrie underwear. how do i know this? baby very seldom stirs before 11 am. he is a teenage fetus. but this morning, carrie underwear accompanied me to work, and he was bopping.

how is this possible? how does the child of he-who-loves-tupac and she-who-loves-spice-girls produce a country lover? strangeness.
