here we go ...
first of all, i'm being spammed by russians for penis patches. honestly -- do i LOOK russian? do i SEEM like the type that might need a penis patch? don't answer that. this is purely rhetorical in nature.
just got back from camp on friday ... man, am i thrashed. long week, but a good week, i think. didn't realize i was a camp director until maybe tuesday morning ... i think i was pretty stretched between doing upkeep and admin, camp directing, and playing team to heeday. have to say though ... super-enjoyed doing ministry with him. and i continue to appreciate him more and more every day. he doesn't just do his work -- he takes care of me too. mad props to my honey.
holla to benben and jo. oh man. congrats!
and now to the main event: not only have i caught a cold from camp, but so God help me, tomorrow is the first day of school. seriously, kids and all. i thought i was way more prepared than i actually was at school today ... spent all day running around checking in with people and having meetings and trying to deal with crises, of which there are aplenty in our dear smaller learning communities. it never quite works out the way you'd hope ... but at least i'm sick enough (or jaded enough) to not pop a blood vessel about it. it's just not worth it. freshmen are going to be scared to death tomorrow anyway ...
on the upside: the one kid that i had last year that i absolutely could NOT abide by has gone away to another school in the district. wahoo! how awful is it that every time i do my happy dance "ding dong the witch is dead" plays on repeat in my head? also -- my team threw me a little belated birthday/engagement party in our meeting this morning. *WARM FUZZY* they are so great! owen even wrapped a beer in some tissue paper for me! HAPPY.
so here we go folks. another chapter in my teaching career. for better or for worse ... Lord be with me. pray for me.
