what rich folks do on their spring break ...
- own kickass million-dollar-custom-designed homes on million dollar plots of land at the sea ranch (which, i have discovered, is an actual city off of highway 1 halfway between bodega bay and mendocino) where you can see any combination of wild ocean, trees, and blue sky from any window in the house.
- drink copious bottles of fine red wine at dinner.
- go on walks along the bluffs and wax eloquence about bird formation patterns. stop to admire the harbor seals. watch mommy and baby whales spout out at sea, all the while, chowing down on mixed nuts, gruyere on cracked wheat crackers, and of course, more red wine.
- listen to soft jazz music.
- read the new york times and discuss politics and education at dinner.
- actually set tables, replete with candles and dinner napkins, et al. break comes in a covered cloth basket. everyone gets their own bread dip thing. people ask to pass the salad.
- drink fresh ground coffee. have breakfast options (cereal, granola with yogurt, sweet batard toast, fresh fruit).
- share your home generously with friends.
what alinna does on her spring break ...
- freeloads with team off rich friends and spend a lovely silent and still weekend at the sea ranch eating good food, drinking good wine and coffee, and reading books and snoozing to my heart's content. amazing company to boot AND i saw whales!!!!!!!
- drives to la with her team.
- spends a lot of time talking and laughing with her team.
- cooks a lot with her team. gumbo, homemade chicken noodle soup, fried chicken, cheddar biscuits, chili, pasta, molten chocolate cakes.
- sleeps until 10.
- does her work while watching movies (ie, underworld, something's gotta give, gladiator, the incredibles)
- wishes that spring break would last for another week so she could spend more time with her aforementioned team.
all in all, i think i'm feeling more rested. *happy thought*
