SUN! i *heart* the sun! my toes love being free!
a shoutout to the safeway meat dept. on homestead: they are the nicest people ever.
i was looking for chopped spinach for my women's group meeting tonight (don't worry, it's for a dip, NOT for consumption solo) and i could NOT find any anywhere. so i asked a guy unloading meat in the meat area to help me. he tells me he doesn't know anything about it, but he'll page the produce people for me. which he does, right away. twice. produce is a no-show, so he offers to go to the storeroom to look for me. he comes back, totally apologetic that they don't have anything left. i'm not that distraught. who likes spinach anyways.
then i ask him about the country ribs sale, since they are buy one value pack, get one free. and they only have one left. he tells me that they are cutting them right now, and do i have a few minutes to wait? i say, no problem, i don't want to go home and work on my life mission statement OR grade notebooks, so i wander to the front of the store and start checking out the bling'n ballgowns from the oscars in the latest edition of people. about ten minutes later, i hear this "umm, ma'am? ma'am?" i turn around and it's my meat guy! and he says "i just wanted to let you know that i put the ribs out and maybe you should go get some now, since people are picking them up like hotcakes. just in case, i saved two for you here." and he's got two packs of freshly packed meat on a tray in front of him, just for me!!!!! he looked all over the store ... for me!! now that is SERVICE.
last time i came, jerry the meat guy helped me pick out a roast.
and the time before that, another meat guy taught me how to make a pot roast.
so in their honor, i bagged my own groceries today. (a nod to dong.) and i want everyone to know how great the meat dept is there, and everyone should go to the safeway on homestead. and that the whole chickens and country pork ribs are buy one, get one free this week!!!!
now i have two happy packs of frozen marinated ribs in the freezer. one chinese style marinade of my own creation (read: beware, dinner guests!) and bullseye hickory smokehouse marinade, spiced up with some full sail wassail ale.
who wants dinner? you can bring the vegetables.
