booyah! i'm climbing the ranks!! yeeeeeeeeeee!!!

a funny story hideyo told me ...

besides the fact that his mama and i are slinging booze bottles back and forth (hey, teacher to teacher, ya gotta self-medicate regularly yo, and to help a fellow teacher do the same is not only right, but NECESSARY), apparently she cannot remember my name. i thought my folks would have a harder time with hideyo's name, but i guess alinna is equally weird. so hideyo's brother kei came up with a wonderful device to help her remember my name: (paraphrased) "mama -- it's a linna. one linna. one-linna."

so now she refers to me as one-linna. and i must say, of all the derivations and pronunciations of my name, one-linna has never been one of them. it's like the oneders on that movie "that thing you do." oh-nee-ders. oh-ne-linna.

i thank you, kei, for being so engineer-clever. that's hilarious.
