some random thoughts ...

1. have you ever read a book that mortally offended you? i have had my first experience with such a book. it's been absolutely the worst kind of slow, torturous slog through madame bovary. truthfully, i'm not sure why i read it, but i hate not finishing books, so i stayed up this week to finish it. and seriously ... i was SO ANGRY by the time i was done reading, i seriously could NOT go to sleep for another hour because i just lay there fuming. I HATE HER. madame bovary is the worst kind of person. she gives women a collective bad name. it wasn't that the writing was bad ... it was that the character was SO FREAKING HATEFUL that it gave me upchuck reflex. ARGH.

2. ames came over last night. i mixed a random pitcher of sangria, and believe me, i use that term loosely. it's really just fruit juice avec vin and a little bit of "fuzzy water" as my smoking hot sister says. and lots of yummy fruit. i think ames and i got a little ... happy. we got real chatty. ask karen. stupid grins on our face and having the time of our lives.

3. it's my little brother's birthday today!!!! happy birthday muck! this little brother, despite his heathenish tendencies (which probably come from me anyway), is a wonderful kid. he's generous and patient and funny as hell. he's also big, and the number of times he's said "hey, uh ... you want me to rough him up a little?" with that little nod ... PRICELESS. gotta love the fam. happy birthday little brother. wo ai ni ... most of the time.
