seriously, you go away for a weekend, and the world turns upside down. my sub shows the kids saturday night live clips for the whole hour. when even half my honors kids didn't do the homework ... yikes. although, who cares? it's finals week.

an entire house, of our four houses, disappeared. due to attrition in the teaching ranks ... constantinople is no more. marrakech will absorb the constantinople teachers that are left, and 1/3 of the constantinople sophomores. it's crazy. i feel awful for those kids. constantinople is known as the "laid back house" ... and now they have to be a part of the "hardass house." that has to be a downgrade.

but all of this is zeroes in comparison to the fact that i lost a colleague this weekend. chris, one of the math teachers, was killed in a car accident monday morning. and there's no way around it. it's just awful. there's nothing i can tell the kids to make it better. he's gone. and he's left a huge hole in our community.

please pray for our kids. they're not doing well. they're young; they don't know how to grieve. pray for chris's family. pray for our school, our community; we need to process and grieve together. and please pray that the Lord would call His lost to Himself. and that i'd seize the opportunities to speak truth to my kids and my colleagues.
