MADE IT.
survived.
and was not voted off the island!

the school year is OVER, baby! grades are IN, room is PACKED, kids are GONE. the beauty of it all.

there will probably be more thoughts to come on this particular point ... but for the moment, it is simply too surreal for me to digest.

today's weirdness:
i think a kid tried to hit on me today. or in the very least, tried to turn on the charm for me. can you say EWW? i had to supervise graduation, and this one kid (the one who thought i was a freshman) kept wandering all over the place, which was really annoying, btw. every time he passed me in the hallway, he kept saying things like "did you miss me?" or "i want to dance with you" or "you look like you need a hug" or "i'll come back next year just for you." how freaking creepy. i think he was trying to charm me, and it certainly seems like he is seldom rebuffed by the ladies, but really ... crap like that is wasted on a paranoid and suspicious hardass like myself. i hate it when my guy kids try to work their schmarmy mojo on me. i always tell my georgian boy that his "southern charm is wasted on a hardened yankee like me." i am from boston, after all.

besides that bizarre exchange, and let the record show that seniors -- really, not so different from freshmen, i'm really looking forward to the faculty breakfast tomorrow morning. only at hillsdale does such an event last for 4 hours. i'm stoked because it's buffett food (sausages to my heart's content) and it's open bar! at 8:30 in the morning. can you say ... mmmmmmmmmmimosa???

well-earned, fellow suffering hillsdaliens. i lift my glass to you!
