i've been reading people's blogs/xangas ... something that i haven't done for ages. i'd recommend kachiu's ... her's is always fun. i'd especially check out the post on karen's win over charlotte's granddaddy. she is a beast, that one. kachiu -- not charlotte.

so being in singapore ... i've gotten in touch with my fob side. last year, when i was here, our family friend, uncle peter, the king of bootleg dvd's from shanghai, brought this dvd with him called infernal affairs. truthfully, i still have no idea what the movie was really about, but the basic premise of the movie is a cop is a mole in the triads, while the triads have a mole in the police department, played by tony leung and andy lau, respectively. (why all asian movie stars have such boring names ... well ... it's better than the lady who's english name is doo doo. i swear, she must have a death wish.) anyhow. let me just say that tony is aging much better than andy. and that the alternative endings idea (based on what country you live in) ... is STUPID. and the whole cat-and-mouse bit was hella confusing.

so this year, to continue the trend, uncle peter brings the second installment of the movie. chronology-wise, this movie backs up to when the two moles are young ... hence, why younger actors are present. shawn yu is tony's good character, and edison is andy's bad character. they're like the fob equivalent to young hollywood. i think edison is much more attractive, though both fancy themselves "artists." puh-lease.

and then, to top it all off, they made a THIRD movie which is out in theatres right now. so i went to see it with my parents, in MANDARIN, of all things, which i can't understand all that well, but gotta love the improbably subtitles. chronologically, this one was the most ridiculous. it was made to explain what happens to all the characters right before and after the first movie, since tony gets whacked (like you were going to watch this). it was SO confusing, and i couldn't keep the flashbacks straight at ALL. they throw in leon lai, who (whom?) i loved in fobbier days, and they just talk talk talk. lots of guns. and i don't think the chick is that cute at all.

that was a lot of posting on nothing. but at least i can hold my head up and say proudly that i don't listen to fob music the way my sister does.

i better finish my yale essay before i stop being able to speak english properly entirely.
