FINALLY. something positive to blog about.

6th period had a "consequence day" on monday. they sucked so much on friday that instead of watching "1776" like everyone else, they had to take notes on the enlightenment thinkers out of the book.

(** side note: in 1776, mr. feaney from boy meets world is john adams! i so did not know that!)

so on tuesday, this was the conversation:

me: "guys, remember how you were really really bad on friday?" (i love that frosh still respond to "bad")

them: yaaaaaaaaah. we're soooooooorry miss chiu.

me: i don't want to beat the dead horse, but there are consequences to your choices. can we now all agree that learning with fun activities is better?

them: yeeeeaaaaaahhh.

and then they were so good. totally participating, etc. etc. beautiful.

on the other hand: parents suck. i just want to put that out there. some ask me how to raise their children, while others try to tell me how to teach, how much homework to give, etc. etc. i'm really wondering if i'm cut out for the political aspect of teaching. it's very draining.
