i finished my first blanket! crocheting makes me feel like little old lady. but now ... with the influx of marriages and impending babies ... what choice do i have?
and okay. no thanks to seri, i have to clarify the hooters situation. as per my teaching methods ... we'll go with the 5 w's.
who: myself and phil hyun, the oft scary older brother of the infamous hyun twins. (he was in town for business)
what: we hung out. that's what two people who know no other people in the country do ... even if you don't really know each other.
when: wed, april 23, 2003
where: hooters, clarke quay, singapore
why why why why why: it's the only place within walking distance of phil's hotel that has crap american food and espn.
and that's the long and short of it. i mean, YES, i couldn't tell where to focus my eyes on the waitress (who knew asian women could be so well endowed?), but NO, i am not a crazy scandalous person! there was actually intelligent conversation amidst the hoola-hoopin' daisy dukes. and a pre-french open tourney on the telly. andy roddick vs. someone. i mean it!
and ... to give him his due ... phil is not as scary as i thought. i mean, sure, he used to growl and hang up on me when i woke him up on saturdays (really -- needed to ask peter ministry questions!), but he's quite funny, and he bought me ice cream. and the neat thing about phil (here are my props) -- he definitely keeps it real. which made a potentially awkward situation (like me hanging out with irving and not with olivia ... what the. REALLY.) a rather enjoyable outing. thanks phil. :)
now you can stop asking me about it.
p.s. i'd never go with seri and mary to hooters anyhow. we'd do nothing but stare and mary would be like "omigodlookatTHAT" and seri would just be cackling. how wrong is that? ladies -- let's just go to napa.
